Submit a repair receipt

Heavy truck repair pricing is opaque because nobody publishes it. The only way to fix that is to pool what we each actually paid. This page is where that happens.

The deal, plainly

  • We publish aggregates only — ranges, medians, sample sizes. Never your invoice, your name, your truck, or the shop you used.
  • No account. Email is optional and used only if we need to ask one question about your submission. We do not sell it and there is no newsletter.
  • A person reads every submission before it moves a published number. Nothing goes straight to the site.
  • Partial is fine. If all you remember is “turbo, about $4,800, Ohio”, send that. Three fields beat a blank form.

The only part we genuinely need. Everything below is optional.

Split out if you can — the split is what makes the data useful. A total on its own is still worth having.

Almost nobody collects this, and it is the field that turns a price list into something that can tell the next driver what actually fixes their fault.

Optional, and only used if we need to ask you one question about the submission. No newsletter, no account, no resale.

We publish aggregates only — never your invoice, your name, or the shop you used. See our privacy policy and how submissions become published figures.

What happens to it

  1. 1. Queued. Your submission lands in a moderation queue marked pending. It is not visible anywhere on the site.
  2. 2. Reviewed. A human checks it for plausibility against the parts and labour figures we already hold. Wildly out-of-band submissions are not deleted — they are held, because an outlier is sometimes the true story of a job that went sideways, and sometimes a typo.
  3. 3. Aggregated. Once a repair has enough accepted receipts to be defensible, the range on its cost page changes and the page starts showing the sample size. Below that threshold we publish nothing and say so.
  4. 4. Credited to nobody. There is no leaderboard, no public profile, and no byline attached to a receipt. It is a data point.

The thresholds, the outlier handling, and the sample sizes we consider publishable are all written down on our data methodology page.
