Use of this site means you accept these terms. The one that actually matters is the safety disclaimer, so it is first rather than buried in clause nine.

Safety disclaimer — read this
Everything on this site is reference material. It is not a repair authorisation, not a diagnosis of your vehicle, and not a substitute for a qualified technician with the vehicle in front of them and the manufacturer's current service information in hand.
Heavy vehicle repair kills people. Air and spring brake systems store enough energy to take a hand off. A trailer or tractor on inadequate support can drop. Diesel fuel systems run at pressures that inject fuel through skin. Cooling systems and aftertreatment components reach temperatures that cause instant burns, and a DPF regeneration can exceed 1,000°F at the tailpipe. Electrical work on a truck with the batteries connected can start a fire.
If you are not trained and equipped for the job in front of you, do not do it. If a fault affects brakes, steering, wheel ends, coupling devices, or lighting, get the truck to a shop rather than working out whether you can live with it.
No warranty on the information
We work hard to get this right — every technical page is sourced, reviewed, and dated, and our data methodology tells you exactly how confident we are in each number. But information here is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Fault code meanings, diagnostic steps, labor hours, part numbers, and cost ranges vary by model year, market, calibration level, and revision, and the manufacturer's current service information always wins over anything we publish.
Pages marked draft or figures marked provisional have not completed technical review or are not yet backed by our own data. We label them so you can weigh them accordingly rather than hiding the distinction.
Cost estimates are estimates
A cost range on this site is a reference point for judging a quote, not a price we are offering and not a price any shop is bound by. Your actual bill depends on your truck, your location, what the shop finds once it is apart, and what you negotiate. A quote above our range is not proof of anything, and neither is a quote below it.
The directory
- A listing is not an endorsement. We verify that a business exists, is reachable, and works on what it says it works on. We do not certify the quality of its work.
- Verification has a date on it, and businesses change. Call before you drive somewhere.
- Listings marked as sample or demonstration records are not real businesses. They exist so the templates can be reviewed and are labelled on every surface they appear on.
- Your dealings with a shop are entirely between you and that shop. We are not a party to the transaction, take no commission on it, and cannot resolve a dispute about it — though we do want to know if a listed shop treated you badly, because that affects whether it stays listed.
Emissions equipment
Tampering with or removing emissions control equipment on a road-going vehicle violates the Clean Air Act and, in most states, state law as well. Nothing on this site may be used to support or perform such work, and we do not publish material that facilitates it. Our coverage of the subject is an honest accounting of what it costs the operator and the legal alternatives.
Your submissions
When you send us a repair invoice, a shop listing, or a correction, you confirm that you have the right to share it and that what you are telling us is true to the best of your knowledge. You grant us permission to use the information — including in aggregate datasets we publish — while keeping ownership of it yourself.
- Do not send us anything confidential or subject to an NDA.
- Do not submit invoices you did not pay or listings for businesses you do not represent.
- We reject submissions that look like a shop pricing its own work, and we say so in the review note rather than deleting them quietly.
- Ask us to delete something you sent and we will, immediately. See the privacy policy.
Content and reuse
The writing, page templates, and compiled datasets on this site are ours. Manufacturer names, engine designations, and trademarks belong to their owners and are used here for identification — we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorised by any truck or engine manufacturer, and no OEM has reviewed anything here.
Quote us, cite us, and link to us freely. Copying whole pages or scraping the directory wholesale is not permitted; if you want the data for research, ask and we will probably just give it to you.
Automated crawling for AI training and search indexing is explicitly allowed in our robots.txt. That is a deliberate choice and does not extend to republishing pages verbatim.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Discount Truck Repair and its contributors are not liable for any loss, injury, damage, downtime, repair cost, regulatory penalty, or other harm arising from use of this site or reliance on anything published here. That includes decisions made on the basis of a fault code page, a cost range, a calculator result, or a directory listing.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions of liability, in which case the exclusions above apply only to the extent permitted where you are.
Advertising and affiliate disclosure
This site is supported by display advertising, paid directory listings, and affiliate links. Advertisers have no influence over editorial content, paid listings do not affect ranking or inclusion, and affiliate relationships are disclosed on the page carrying the link. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes get a new date at the top and a description of what changed. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the updated terms.
